SPIRITUAL BREATH Ceramics Sculpture

“Spiritual Breath” merges art and function, embodying the quiet ritual of reflection and inner peace. This hollow ceramic sculpture serves as an incense holder for pyramid incense. As the smoke rises through the sculpted form, it transforms the piece into a living artwork—a symbol of breath, spirit, and connection to the unseen.

Black ceramics, one of the oldest forms of clay firing, has been known since Neolithic times but is now a dying art. The process involves slowly raising the temperature of a kiln buried in the ground to extract moisture before adding firewood to start the fuming process. As the clay absorbs smoke and fines, its pores close, resulting in a unique and unrepeatable black finish. This process takes days and is subject to the unpredictable elements of nature, making each creation a one-of-a-kind piece.
