Description

I have always believed that nature holds the answers to many of our deepest questions. There’s no need to search far and wide; the wisdom we seek is right in front of us. This philosophy inspired me to create a black ceramic sculpture of the sun, encapsulating the lessons I have learned from observing the sun’s journey across the sky.

One of the most profound lessons the sun teaches is the virtue of selfless giving. There is a saying: The sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me.’. Every day, the sun rises and spreads its light and warmth across the Earth without expecting anything in return. This unconditional generosity is a reminder to us to give freely and selflessly. In a world often driven by transactions and expectations, the sun’s example encourages us to be kind and generous simply because it is the right thing to do.

The sun’s daily cycle of rising and setting symbolizes the duality of life. From our perspective, it brings light and then darkness, warmth and then coolness, mirroring the highs and lows we experience. However, in reality, the sun’s journey is continuous. It does not truly rise or set; it is we who move. This teaches us that life’s ups and downs are part of a larger, unending journey. Each ending is a new beginning, and every moment of despair is followed by the promise of dawn.

Another saying: The brighter the light, the darker the shadow. Success and visibility bring their own set of challenges. Just as the sun casts shadows even as it illuminates, our achievements often attract criticism and scrutiny. This balance is essential; the presence of shadows does not diminish the sun’s brilliance but rather highlights the contrast, making the light even more significant. Embracing this balance means accepting that with great success comes great responsibility and adversity.

Through this piece, I hope to share these reflections and encourage others to observe and learn from the natural world, finding in it the essence of our own existence.

Please note that the colors in the pictures may appear slightly different in person due to variations in lighting when the photos were taken.
